Fryshuset Basket Cup is played according to the following guidelines and competition rules:

Organizer
The Fryshuset Basket Cup is organized by Fryshuset Basket.

Age Categories:

  • Boys U12, players born in 2015 or later
  • Boys U13, players born in 2014 or later
  • Boys U14, players born in 2013 or later
  • Boys U15, players born in 2012 or later
  • Girls U12, players born in 2015 or later
  • Girls U13, players born in 2014 or later
  • Girls U14, players born in 2013 or later
  • Girls U15, players born in 2012 or later

Game Format 4 vs 4 (U12–U13)

In U12 and U13, games are played 4 vs 4.
The purpose of this format is to provide players with:

  • greater involvement and responsibility in the game
  • more decision-making situations during matches
  • more space per player and greater opportunities for creative decisions
  • better learning conditions and increased enjoyment

Zone Defense

Zone defense is not allowed in the U12–U14 age groups.

Quick Throw-ins

Quick throw-ins are applied in accordance with competition regulations to:

  • increase the tempo of the game
  • reduce stoppages
  • create more playable situations

License Rules / Eligibility Regulations

The club must be a registered basketball club within a national or regional federation. All players must be licensed for the club.

Eligibility Rules:

  • A player may not play for two teams in the same age category. If they do, they are considered ineligible for the second team (chronologically).
  • Over-age players are not allowed without approved dispensation from the organizer (maximum two per match).
  • Individual players born in 2015 who wish to play in the 2014 age group require dispensation.
  • All players must be registered in the team’s entry via the tournament system.

Players who do not meet licensing rules are automatically ineligible.
An ineligible player participating in a match is disqualified from the rest of the tournament.
Teams using an ineligible player lose those matches 0–20.

Group Stage
Teams are divided into groups and play a round-robin format.
Standings are based on points:

  • Win = 2 points
  • Loss = 0 points

If teams are tied:

  1. Head-to-head results
  2. Point difference in head-to-head games
  3. Points scored in head-to-head games

Playoffs
The top two teams in each group advance to the A playoffs.
Remaining teams enter the B playoffs.
Playoffs are knockout format (elimination upon loss).

Match Schedule

The organizer reserves the right to adjust schedules, groups, times, and courts.

Match Rules (U13–U15)

  • Games are played 4 × 6 minutes (effective time)
  • Tied games are decided by sudden death (jump ball, first score wins)
  • Referee manages the 24/14-second rule and signals when 10 seconds remain
  • Team foul limit: 4 per period; 5 personal fouls per player
  • U12 and U13 play 4 vs 4
  • Quick throw-ins applied
  • Otherwise, FIBA official rules apply

Time-outs

  • 1 time-out per team per half
  • Cannot be carried over to the next period
  • In overtime, each team gets one time-out

Ball Size / Uniforms

  • All jerseys must be numbered (on the back)
  • No duplicate numbers within a team

If teams wear similar colors, the away team must change (unless agreed otherwise).

Ball Sizes:

  • U12 boys & girls: size 5
  • U13–U15 girls: size 6
  • U13–U14 boys: size 6
  • U15 boys: size 7

Before Matches
Player names and jersey numbers must be registered before the tournament.
Teams must be ready and changed 20 minutes before tip-off.

Protests and Penalties
Protests must be submitted within 15 minutes after the match, along with a fee of SEK 500.

The fee is refunded only if the protest is approved.
Handled by the competition jury.

Disqualification and Warnings

  • A disqualified player is suspended for the next game
  • Further suspensions may be imposed for serious offenses
  • Serious cases may be reported to national federations

Note: A suspended player participating = ineligible → match lost 0–20.

Walkover & Interrupted Matches

  • Teams must arrive at least 20 minutes before the game
  • Teams not ready within 15 minutes after start = no-show
  • No-show = 0–20 loss
  • Repeated no-shows may lead to disqualification
  • WO fee: SEK 3000

If a match is interrupted, the competition committee decides whether to replay, resume, or determine a result.
